Think About Your PassportFirst In our post 9-11 era, a current passport is an absolute necessity. If yours is not up-to-date or is due to expire in the near future, you’ll want to be sure to renew promptly. Don’t wait until the last minute. If you’re applying for your first U.S. passport or if someone in your travel party is under 16, you’re required to apply in person.
