We would like to take the opportunity to welcome Cabin Bluff to Sweet Waters Adventure’s portfolio.
Cabin Bluff has an astonishing natural beauty. An exceptional variety of sports and recreational activities. Assured privacy. Rustic charm. Cabin Bluff is the kind of place that opens minds to new ideas and adventures and allows for bonding and growth. With access to 24,000 acres, our waterfront setting is the perfect destination for entertaining top customers, productive corporate meetings, or relishing time with extended family. Private and exclusive Cabin Bluff overlooks Georgia’s vast tidal marshes and lies adjacent to Cumberland Island’s famed national seashore.
Virtually everywhere at Cabin Bluff, history is present. You’ll see a century of moments suspended in time through photographs, decades-old books and treasured artifacts. Perhaps the most startling sight is a well-preserved 13-foot alligator mounted overhead in the lodge, present since 1930.
Cabin Bluff to this day retains a rough-hewn quality, yet has not relinquished its standing as a destination built upon simple elegance and attention to service and enjoyment. The retreat is a warm and welcoming host for any corporate retreat, customer trip, or family gathering. Specializing in groups smaller than 40, events at Cabin Bluff are exclusive, uncomplicated and as genuine as the historic property itself.
Experienced anglers have long regarded the waters of the Cumberland River as a treasure for all those who wish to test their skills against redfish, bluefish, sea trout, tarpon and an almost endless list of other native fish. Expertly guided charter fishing trips along inshore and offshore waters — with all tackle furnished — can be easily arranged. For many species, you are free to “catch and release” or keep your catch. We’ll clean it and pack it for you to enjoy at home, or prepare it for your breakfast. So, whether you prefer a day’s excursion in the pursuit of white-knuckle sport fishing, or you enjoy light tackle trips to the inlets and estuaries that meander just off the shores of nearby Cumberland Island, you will not be disappointed.
Fishing along the Intercoastal Waterway is something to behold at Cabin Bluff. We lead daily excursions by boat along the Cumberland River, fishing the many estuaries that dot the shoreline near Cumberland Island. There you’ll find spotted sea trout, sheepshead, red drum, and many other inshore species in abundance. Despite ever changing conditions, our seasoned fishing guides stay tuned into what is biting and where, ensuring you make the most of your time on the water.
Experience the thrills of coastal Georgia’s abundant ocean resource by spending time on the Atlantic Ocean. We offer half-day and full-day offshore guided fishing trips. From schools of king mackerel, cobia, and tarpon to the bottom dwelling grouper, snapper and sea bass, offshore fishing is an exciting experience
Few things captivate an outdoorsman as much as fly fishing – as much art as it is sport. Cabin Bluff is a fly fishing dream with quiet flats that allow you to tie your best Clouser minnow, saltwater popper or shrimp. Chase schools of redfish, tarpon and trout that inhabit the marshes, rivers, and coastline alongside Cumberland Island. The sport is all about precision, so if you’ve never tried it, or are just a bit rusty, fly fishing lessons are available.

Cabin Bluff has long been the playground of a who’s who of outdoorsmen, all of whom revered it as a premier hunting destination. And while times have changed, our reputation has not. Here you can experience covey after covey of quail flushed from over 1800 acres of quail fields, or our large deer population, plentiful wild turkey and even wild boar. And our guides are always available to offer helpful instruction whether you’re a seasoned hunter or enjoying your first time taking gun in hand.
For outdoorsmen, a covey rising over well-trained bird dogs is an exhilarating sight. Quail hunts take place across an expanse of South Georgia intensively managed for quail. Watching our dogs work in longleaf and slash pine timber is a sight to behold. Our pointers are trained to be Steady to Wing and Shot, while our retrievers are taught to flush and to retrieve. Seasoned hunters will know pairing these two breeds provides a superior quail hunting experience.
At Cabin Bluff, you’ll find excellent hunting opportunities in a variety of habitats with relaxing scenic views. Deer and wild boar stands are strategically located with surrounding live oaks, palmettos and open quail woods. Our professional hunting guides are always scouting and preparing in advance of seasons, and our vast acreage means there is limited pressure on game animals, so you have the best opportunity for a successful hunt.
Calling in the elusive gobbler is just as much art, as it is sport. Fortunately, Cabin Bluff offers a dense population of gobblers. Our birds are “call friendly” early in the season, and as you’ll see upon arriving at Cabin Bluff, for nearly 100 years turkey hunters have agreed it is a premier place for the sport.
At Cabin Bluff you are fortunate to find yourself in the midst of an extraordinary variety of natural resources that encourage the pursuit of new activities and adventures. Boating, golf on a remarkable course crafted by Davis Love III, tennis, bocce ball, a lap pool and a sporting clays course are yours to enjoy.
Surrounded by tidal marsh creeks and abundant in wildlife, the Cumberland River and its tributaries is the perfect environment for a kayaking adventure. You’ll learn about tides, currents, and safety considerations for kayaking in coastal and tidal waters from a master guide. Enjoy a quiet trip teaming with bird life, such as ospreys, pelicans and wood storks, competing for your attention with dolphins, breaching rays, and the pristine landscape itself. Kayak to Plum Orchard and experience a 3-mile hike to a pristine, white-sand beach. We’re glad to plan something unique to your wishes.
Designed by legendary PGA TOUR professional Davis Love III, our course boasts one of the very few layouts of its kind. The eighteen hole course is designed around six thoughtfully constructed greens, each designed to be played three distinct ways. Complex greens, well-placed bunkers and strategic water hazards blend with meandering, waterfront fairways to create a challenging, yet highly enjoyable golf experience. From technically designed Par Three’s to long, winding Par Five’s, this unique course will impress even the most avid golfer.
