Situated in the heart of Chilean Patagonia’s Lagos Region, Eleven Martín Pescador is a multi-day, multi-lodge sequence that’s been uniquely structured to host guests for a few nights at two separate riverside lodges—Rio Yelcho Lodge and Rio Rosselot Lodge.
This design allows anglers exceptionally extensive access to a sprawling assortment of fisheries—many of which boast world-class recognition for trophy rainbow and brown trout.
A combination of jet boats, lake boats, and rafts get you on even the most remote, hard-to-reach water, alongside guides who are equally excited to experience both the quality and quantity of the wild trout seen in this spectacular region. Expect to be offered the option of fishing with dry flies, as the insects that hatch here are almost the same as in Montana, Oregon, Colorado, etc. Mayflies, stoneflies and caddis being the most common. A dry dropper rig is very effective, as are streamers, especially if you prefer hunting for big fish. At certain times in the season, the dry dragonfly action on the big lakes is ridiculously entertaining. Plus, a technique called ‘eeling’, when large trout chase and slash at a two inch baitfish, creating what can be described as a feeding frenzy. There are also migrating baby salmon, chinook mostly, and these smolts are easy to imitate and the big trout hammer them. Both lodges, situated directly on the water, offer immediate accessibility and the opportunity to partake in a guest favorite—watching fish rise as the sun sets from the deck, with a fine wine in hand.
The main systems that anglers can expect to fish are Rio and Lago Yelcho, Rio Futaleufú, Rio Palena, Rio and Lago Rosselot, Rio Figueroa, and Rio Pico, along with other private lakes and various smaller river systems. You’ll target brown and rainbow trout that typically measure 14–18 inches. Larger trout up to 22 inches are landed daily, and prized fish measuring 23+ inches can usually be expected weekly!
Set on a beautiful bend of the Rio Yelcho, Rio Yelcho Lodge’s cozy cabins each include en suite bathrooms, wood burning stoves, and decks with striking views of the pristine water and nearby glaciers. The other portion of the trip will be experienced from Rio Rosselot Lodge, another riverfront lodge situated further south that delivers entirely new angling opportunities. This spacious, beautifully crafted lodge blends traditional aesthetics with contemporary architecture and offers immaculate views from wraparound decks.
